When I was a little girl, I always dreamed of seeing the world. Travel was a part of every dream I had. Some people dream of big weddings, having children and everything in between. All I wanted was to see and experience other cultures. I always knew I wanted to make an impact on the world. I was not sure how that was all going to come together.
Then my favorite person in my life, my dad, passed away. It was at that moment that I realized how short life truly is.
Then and there I vowed to myself that I would do everything I could to make my dream of globe trotting this great big world my reality. I saved every penny, even taking extra jobs and side hustles to come up with the funds for the biggest and craziest adventure of my life. Now fast forward three years. It was July 3, 2019 and it was raining and I was dog sitting for a friend. As I gazed out the window this overwhelming feeling came over me. I knew that it was “time”… time to take a leap of faith and go! I went online and without a second thought I booked a one way ticket to Europe. First stop London!
I gave my two weeks notice to my job of 9 years. I grabbed my backpack ( and only my backpack) and set off to see the world. I quickly became addicted to travel. I found it. This, I realized, was my passion I had always been craving.
I quickly realized I am my happiest when I am experiencing new places, meeting new people, and discovering a new culture. In all I backpacked 14 countries in Europe and 2 in Asia. What was supposed to be a 3 month trip became a 6 month adventure. On this trip I discovered I was my happiest self when I was traveling. Who knows how long I would have stayed gone as I only returned to the US because of Covid-19.
I went back to work in the medical field and knew this was no longer my purpose. My purpose is to help others experience what I felt. The euphoria of traveling. It changes you more than anything else can in this world. I knew I had to do something to make my next dream come true. Ally Around the World was born.
I am so proud of you. You are an amazing young women. And I love you more then you will ever know. To the moon around the world and back.
